Actually...

You can find me here.

I've been there for a while already, as you'll find out if you decide to visit, but just didn't think to put a link here.  Until now.

Music: Slaughter - Get used to it.

It's 2 months later now and yes, I'm back from my trip to Europe.

Saw most of my relatives, even talked to one cousin on the phone (who couldn't make it) that I hadn't talked to in 9-10 years at least. Or actually, his wife (who I didn't know yet, let alone meet) called me and then later I talked to the guy himself when I suggested he was maybe afraid to talk to me.

Also introduced my wife to my grandparents, so they've now met her a grand total of two times and it'll be a while before they see her a third time probably. A pity, because they really appreciated it, but that's one of those things when you're an ocean apart, unfortunately.

So the apartment is empty, keys handed in, lots of other stuff cancelled or address changed, etc, but for the moment things aren't going to be simplified here yet, because I've got 3 more harddisks to sort out that I took with me from the computers I had still running over there.

Oh well, it'll keep me busy if I ever feared I'd have a chance of being bored.

Music: Marvin Gaye - Ain't no mountain high enough.

Tomorrow I'll be stepping on a flight to Amsterdam (the Netherlands). I haven't been back in nearly 14 months while originally I left to spend 2 months here!

On the one hand I am excited, I'll be seeing familiar places, familiar faces, even though my parents visited us around Christmas there'll be a lot to talk about, catch up, etc. Email and phonecalls just aren't enough sometimes you know?

On the other hand I feel sad to be leaving here for a fairly long time (nearly 2 months) to clean up and cancel the rent of my apartment and wrapping up some other bits'n'pieces. Gee, you'd almost think I've gotten used to being here, kinda settled.

But in the end it will be good. I won't be wasting money on an apartment that I have no intention of using anymore anyway and I will be able to focus on my life here, my carreer of sorts, the new family on this continent. It'll simplify things and I'll have less to worry about but I do think I'm going to be sad when at the end of the trip I finally close the door of that apartment and head towards the airport to go back home, to the US....

Music: The Verve - Bittersweet Symphony

Well that was bizar. I've had some strange computer related questions before, but just now my mother in law called me on her cellphone to have me check weather.com for tomorrow's forecast!
